Admission: Undergraduate

This section stresses on the admission requirements and also on enrollment flow.

All prospect Michaelites will be asked to submit pertinent requirements by the Guidance Center (GC), Registrar, Students Affairs Office (SAO) and also from the College which he or she belongs. .

Students’ enrolment could only be considered official upon completion of requirements and the signature of the Vice President for Academic affairs.

Below are the enumerated requirements vis-�-vis the offices:

Guidance Center Admission Requirements

Freshman Applicants. All freshman applicants must secure an admission form from the Guidance Center with the following requirements:

  1. Entrance Exam Results and testing fee;
  2. High school report card;
  3. Good moral certificate;
  4. Three (3) pcs. 1×1 recent colored I.D. white background;
  5. white Long folder;
  6. Authenticated Birth Certificate;
  7. Authenticated Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is married);

Note: Freshman applicants must then submit the filled-up Admission form and testing fee receipt, together with all other requirements, at the Guidance Center. Incomplete forms will not be processed.

Transfer Applicants. Get an Admission form from the Guidance Center with the following requirements.

  1. Entrance Exam Results and testing fee;
  2. Transcript of Records or Evaluation of Grades;
  3. Good Moral Certificate;
  4. Three (3) pcs. 1×1 recent colored ID white background;
  5. uthenticated Birth Certificate;
  6. Authenticated Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is married);
  7. white long folder

Note: Transfer applicants must then submit the filled-up Admission form and testing fee receipt, together with all other requirements, at Guidance Center. Incomplete forms will not be processed.

Foreign Applicants. Applicants who will take the Admission Test must submit the following requirements.

  1. Entrance Test Result;
  2. Transfer Credentials/High School Report Card;
  3. Evaluation Copy of TOR (for those who have attended College);
  4. Certificate of Live Birth;
  5. Student Visa (Xerox Copy);
  6. Passport (Xerox Copy);
  7. Photocopy of the Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR)

Student Affairs Office Requirements

All must secure the following requirements:

  1. Fill-up SAO Admission form;
  2. 1 pc 2×2 and 1 pc 1×1 colored I.D. pictures white background
  3. Haircut for Male;
  4. CSG KASAPI registration
  5. Semestral Performance Report (for continuing students)

Graduate Studies Admission Requirements. The minimum requirements for graduate admissions are:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized by the government;
  2. An overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 80% in the bachelor’s degree program;
  3. Satisfactory Performance in the entrance examination and interview conducted by the dean;
  4. For a Master in Education, a student must have a bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field;
  5. Transcript of Records for Evaluation and the Honorable dismissal;
  6. Formal Application form (available at the Graduate School);
  7. Credentials such as:
    1. An authenticated copy of the Official Transcript of Records from the previous school;
    2. Honorable Dismissal from last attended educational institution;
    3. Bio-data;
  8. Photocopy of Marriage contract (for married student)
  9. Others:
    1. Long envelope;
    2. borrower’s card;
    3. 2 pcs. 1×1 recent colored I.D.
    4. 1 pc. 2×2 recent colored I.D. for personal profile

Office of the Registrar Requirements

All freshman applicants must secure an admission form from the Guidance Center with the following requirements:

  1. Entrance Exam Results and testing fee;
  2. High school report card;
  3. Good moral certificate;
  4. Three (3) pcs. 1×1 recent colored I.D.;
  5. Long Brown envelope;
  6. Curriculum folder
  7. Authenticated Birth Certificate;
  8. Authenticated Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is married);

Nursing Students Admission Requirements

a. Incoming Freshmen

  • Applicants must pass the College Entrance Examination administered by the Guidance Center
  • Form 138;
  • High School GPA of 83% & above;
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character;
  • Passed the Nursing interview by the Dean or representative;
  • Passed the medical examination conducted by the School Physician which includes the following diagnostic examinations:
  1. CBC
  2. Hepatitis B Antigen-Antibody
  • Applicants must be physically & mentally fit;
  • Marriage Certificate for married students;
  • 1 pc 2″X2″ colored ID picture;
  • Long envelope

b. Transferees/Shiftees/Returnees may be admitted to the Nursing

Program provided:

  • They passed all the Pre-requisite subjects;
  • Must have a passing grade of 80% & above in the minor subject;
  • Passing grade of 80% & above for the major nursing subject;
  • Passed the Assessment Exam (Nursing Achievement Exam) @ 80%;
  • Physically & mentally fit;
  • Passed the Nursing interview;
  • With complete transfer credentials;
  • GPA of 80% & above from the last semester attended;
  • Marriage Certificate for married students;
  • Must submit 1 pc 2″X2″ recent colored ID picture & long brown envelope
  • If a student is found to be physically & mentally unfit, the school has the right to refuse admission.

Physically handicapped which includes:

  1. Difficulty in speech
  2. Difficulty in hearing
  3. Difficulty in walking
  4. Deformed extremities or any part of the body
  5. Difficulty in breathing
  6. Limited movements
  7. Seizures/convulsions
  8. Heart/Brain/Spinal Cord Conditions or conditions of any vital organ
  9. History of Asthma
  10. Others to be identified

For Positive of Hepatitis B

  • At the end of the First Year Level, a Competency Assessment Exam is given to all qualified students & must get an average of 75% & above. If a student failed in any of the enrolled subject in the semester, he/she is not qualified to take the Level 1 Competency Exam, thus disqualifying him/her to enrol in the College of Nursing. The Dean or representatives of the College will then advice the student to shift/transfer.
  • If a student satisfactorily passed all the subjects enrolled in the semester, he/she is qualified to take the Level 1 Competency Assessment Exam. However, if she/she does not satisfactorily pass the qualifying exam, the student is also advised to shift.

MITEC (TVET / TESDA) Admission Requirements

For the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Courses

  1. Photocopy of NSO Birth Certificate
  2. High School Report Card for High School Graduate or Transcript of Records for College level or College Graduate
  3. 2 pcs 2×2 ID pictures
  4. 2 pcs 1×1 ID pictures
  5. Filled-up Manpower Registration Form
  6. Youth Profiling for Starring Career(YP4SC)results or NCAE Results
  7. Long envelope

Entrance Examinations. Entrance examinations consisting of scholastic ability are given to all applicants who seek admission in SMC. Results of these tests are the bases for screening and placement.

The type of exam to be given to takers is Otis – Lennon School Ability Test 8th Edition (OLSAT).

  2. Accepted foreigners are required to take Filipino, History, Rizal, Philippine Constitution classes as well as Religion subjects aside from other regular subjects offered or found in the curriculum.

Basic Guidelines for Crediting Math & English Subjects (Transferee students)

  1. Math subjects (All Courses)
    1. A credit of three (3) units for Math 1 %u2013 College Algebra subject for a grade of 2.5 or 80 above in TOR / evaluation of grade from a CHEd / accredited recognized school;
    2. To take Math 1 %u2013 College Algebra subject for a grade of 2.75 or 79 below in TOR/ evaluation of grade from a CHEd/ accredited recognized school and also below the cut-off of the entrance examination.
  2. English subjects (All Courses)
    1. A credit of three (3) units for English 1 subject for a grade of 2.5 or 80 above in TOR/evaluation of grade from a CHEd recognized school;
    2. To take English 1 subject for a grade of 2.75 or 79 below in TOR/ evaluation of grade from a CHEd recognized school and also below the cut-off of the entrance examination.
  3. Basic Guidelines for crediting minor and major subjects for Nursing Course (Transferees only)
    1. Any students who wish to enroll in the college of nursing should pass the admission test requirements;
    2. No credit is given to a grade below 2.5 in all minor subjects and below 2.0 in major subjects.

Enrolment Procedure. Enrollment is conducted at the beginning of the semester as scheduled by the school. A flow chart indicating the procedure of enrollment is posted further within the campus area.

Late Registration. Late registration starts on the 1st day of classes up to the last day of the month. Fines may be imposed to late registrants.

Enrolment Contract. A student is deemed officially enrolled after s/he has submitted the appropriate admission or transfer credentials, passed the interviews and entrance examinations, has made an adequate payment of school fees, signed the Certificate of registration (COR) and further authorized to attend classes (TVET Manual).

Refusal of Admission. Admission is refused to an old SMC student:

Who was given the chance to enroll and still has failing grades preceding the current semester. This applies to any student who for two (2) consecutive semesters has accumulated failing grades and/ or dropped remarks in three subjects;

For other reason, such as undesirable behavior, irregular attendance, inability to follow rules and regulations, continuous poor health, record of criminal offense, etc.

Admission is likewise refused to a transferee who lacks transfer credential such as Honorable Dismissal, Certificate of Good Moral Character, and the TOR reflecting the subjects previously taken with respective grades.
