On March 11, 2016, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc., through the Mother Ignacia Center for Social Responsibility (MICSR), in collaboration with the Alumni Affairs Office and the College of Nursing, conducted an Assisting Medical Mission at the SMC Gymnasium, as part of the institution’s Health Care Program, during the Second Semester of Academic Year 2015–2016.
The activity aimed to support the delivery of accessible health services to community beneficiaries by providing medical assistance, basic health screening, and patient support. Nursing students actively participated in the mission, assisting medical professionals while applying their clinical knowledge and skills in a supervised, real-world setting.
Beyond service delivery, the medical mission served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity for students, strengthening their competencies in patient care, teamwork, and ethical practice. It also reinforced the spirit of volunteerism and alumni engagement, demonstrating a strong culture of collaboration within the Michaelite community.This initiative reflects SMCII’s mission of faith, excellence, and service, highlighting the institution’s commitment to compassionate health care and responsive community outreach.
