As part of St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc.’s active participation in the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Coin Recirculation Program, the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) spearheaded a campus-wide initiative titled “Small Change, Big Impact: Empowering Change, One 25 Cents at a Time!” The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the importance of keeping coins in circulation to support an efficient and inclusive economy.
Throughout the activity, students, faculty, and staff across departments joined hands in collecting small denominations—10-centavo, 25-centavo, and 5-centavo coins—as part of their contribution to the BSP’s advocacy. The collection resulted in an impressive total of 1,514 coins, composed of 390 pieces of 10-centavo coins, 912 pieces of 25-centavo coins, and 212 pieces of 5-centavo coins. These coins, though often overlooked in daily transactions, became symbols of unity and shared responsibility in promoting financial inclusion and awareness.
True to the spirit of faith, excellence, and service, the funds collected were used to support the Iftar Celebration during the month of Ramadhan, showing solidarity with the school’s Muslim community and fostering interfaith harmony within the campus. The initiative beautifully merged the goals of financial education, community participation, and spiritual respect, turning a small act into a meaningful gesture of compassion and cultural understanding.
The campaign was communicated campus-wide, encouraging every Michaelite to participate actively. Posters and digital banners carrying the message “Small Change, Big Impact” inspired students to see that even the smallest coins, when combined, can bring about significant results. The activity also served as an example of ethical stewardship and social engagement—core lessons in the Business Ethics curriculum.
More than just a coin drive, the project reflected St. Michael’s College’s dedication to building a socially responsible and financially literate community. Through this initiative, students learned that change—no matter how small—can create ripples of positive transformation. The success of the program stands as a testament to the College’s continued efforts to empower its learners to be instruments of hope, generosity, and progress—one centavo at a time.
