On September 9, 2017, the Computer Literacy Program conducted its first session for Module 2, focusing on Microsoft Word, with teacher-volunteers from Iligan City eagerly participating. Many of these volunteers were women educators who continue to play an essential role in strengthening digital literacy within their communities. Their commitment to learning new technologies reflects not only professional dedication but also the resilience and leadership of women in education—balancing their roles as teachers, mothers, and community builders while embracing innovations that enhance classroom instruction.
Present during the opening of the session were key administrators from St. Michael’s College: Dr. Ritzcen A. Durango, Dean of the Graduate School and Vice President for Academic Affairs; Engr. Ma. Fe Bahinting, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Studies; Jerome O. Abilay, CECS Faculty; and Mr. Korsiney N. Cabasis, MBA, MICSR Director. Their support highlighted the institution’s commitment to uplifting educators—especially women—through capacity-building programs that equip them with essential digital skills. This initiative marks another meaningful step in empowering teachers to meet the demands of modern education and to continue inspiring learners through technology-driven teaching.
