On January 27, 2015, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc., through the College of Nursing, conducted a Health Care Program at Barangay Santiago, Iligan City, during the Second Semester of Academic Year 2015–2016.
The activity aimed to promote community health awareness and preventive care by providing basic health services and health education to barangay residents. Through this outreach, beneficiaries received essential health assistance while gaining knowledge on proper health practices, disease prevention, and personal well-being.
The program also served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity for nursing students, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real community settings while developing clinical competence, communication skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility. The initiative strengthened collaboration between the College of Nursing and the local community, fostering trust and shared commitment to public health.This activity reflects SMCII’s mission of faith, excellence, and service, highlighting the institution’s role in supporting accessible health care and community empowerment.
