Support Out-of-School Youth: Signing of memorandum of Understanding between Stakeholders

On August 8, 2023, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. formally forged a partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Iligan City Youth Development Office, the Department of Education–Alternative Learning System, and Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology during the HERO Implementation Partnership Agreement Signing held at SMC, Iligan City. This collaboration reflects a strong commitment to advancing inclusive and transformative education and directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by expanding access to learning opportunities for out-of-school youth and alternative learners, while strengthening community-based and flexible education pathways. At the same time, the initiative embodies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through its multi-sectoral approach, bringing together international agencies, government institutions, and academic partners to collectively address educational gaps. By prioritizing marginalized learners and youth empowerment, the partnership also contributes to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), ensuring that education serves as a powerful tool for social inclusion and sustainable community development in Iligan City.
