In line with its commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, SMC successfully conducted a mangrove planting activity on December 9, 2025, in Marcelo, Maria Christina, Fuentes, Iligan City, with the participation of IFP2 students in collaboration with CSWD personnel. This initiative aimed to promote coastal protection, biodiversity, and climate resilience while providing students with hands-on opportunities to practice environmental responsibility and teamwork. By actively contributing to the restoration of mangrove ecosystems, participants helped enhance natural habitats and support sustainable livelihoods for local communities. The activity aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 13: Climate Action through ecosystem-based adaptation, SDG 14: Life Below Water by protecting coastal and marine biodiversity, SDG 15: Life on Land through habitat restoration, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by strengthening community resilience against natural hazards. Through initiatives like this, SMC continues to nurture socially and environmentally responsible individuals committed to caring for the planet and their communities.
