In January 14, 2015, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. (SMCII), through the Mother Ignacia Center for Social Responsibility (MICSR), in collaboration with the College of Nursing (CON), Basic Education Department (BED), and College of Commerce (COC), formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing held at the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) – Del Carmen, Iligan City, during Academic Year 2015–2016.
The MOU signing marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between the academe and government offices in advancing inclusive education, social welfare, and community empowerment, particularly for persons with disabilities. Through this agreement, SMCII affirmed its commitment to supporting programs and initiatives that promote accessibility, participation, and equal opportunities for all members of the community.
The partnership established a framework for coordinated activities involving health, education, livelihood, and social support services, drawing on the combined expertise of the participating academic units and the PDAO. By working together, the partners aimed to develop responsive and sustainable programs that address the needs of persons with disabilities and their families.This activity reflects SMCII’s mission of faith, excellence, and service, highlighting the institution’s dedication to social inclusion, compassion, and ethical engagement. The collaboration also demonstrated the value of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing complex social issues and fostering a more inclusive society.
