In August 2018, the MICSR–UROCK Program, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region X, conducted the U-ROCK – Basahang Maaasahan initiative across several municipalities in Region X. Held on August 18, 22, 23, and 24, the program reached the municipalities of Lala, Salvador, Nunungan, Kapatagan, Sapad, Baroy, Tubod, Magsaysay, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, and Tangcal in Lanao del Norte.
The activity centered on a Financial Literacy Workshop designed to empower beneficiaries by strengthening their skills in managing income, understanding basic financial concepts, and applying practical strategies for livelihood sustainability. Participants also engaged in a hands-on session on costing their rag products, helping them properly price their handcrafted “basahang maaasahan” to ensure fair profit and long-term market viability.
Through this initiative, St. Michael’s College and DSWD Region X affirmed their commitment to community development by equipping local families and livelihood groups with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance economic opportunities and build more resilient communities.
