DUYOG: Clean Hands, Healthy Smiles — A Marian Act of Service

On September 9,2025, nursing students from St. Michael’s College, Iligan City conducted
a community outreach activity at Santiago Daycare Center. The outreach aimed to promote
proper hand hygiene and oral hygiene among young learners through interactive teaching and
demonstrations.
The nursing students actively engaged the children by explaining the importance of washing
hands correctly and maintaining good oral hygiene to prevent illnesses. Through simple
language, visual aids, and hands-on demonstrations, the students ensured that the children
understood and enjoyed the learning process.
After the health teaching, the nursing students prepared snacks and organized fun games for
the children. These activities allowed the children to relax, enjoy, and further connect with the
volunteers, creating a joyful and welcoming environment.

This activity reflects the true spirit of being Marian—serving others with compassion, humility,
and love. By reaching out to the community, the nursing students embodied Marian values of
selfless service and care for the well-being of others, especially the young and vulnerable.
Participating in this community outreach allowed the nursing students to apply their
knowledge beyond the classroom while strengthening their commitment to service. It also
helped them grow not only as future healthcare professionals but also as individuals guided by
faith and social responsibility.
