Tambayayong sa Kabataan: Building Resilience through Love and Service

On November 28, 2025, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc., through the College of Arts and Sciences (TW1 Class), conducted Tambayayung sa Kabataan: The Michaelite Way at Bahay Pag-asa, Barangay Santiago, Iligan City. Rooted in the Michaelite values of faith, excellence, and service, the activity sought to strengthen community bonds by creating a safe and nurturing space where children could learn, reflect, and grow through meaningful interaction.

The program was designed to foster cooperation, resilience, and hope among the children through carefully planned activities that combined learning, play, and spiritual formation. An interactive storytelling session titled “Light in Darkness” encouraged the children to reflect on their own strengths and challenges, helping them understand that resilience is cultivated through perseverance, kindness, and support from others. This was complemented by a team-building activity, “A Climb to Hope that’s Home,” which promoted cooperation, trust, and shared responsibility, allowing both facilitators and children to build stronger, more meaningful connections.

A catechetical segment, “Family is Love,” provided words of wisdom that emphasized compassion, unity, and the importance of community as a foundation for rebuilding one’s life amid difficulties. Through these conversations, the children were reminded that love and faith serve as sources of strength, especially during challenging times. The CAS student volunteers actively engaged with the participants, offering encouragement, listening with empathy, and modeling values of care and service.Tambayayung sa Kabataan highlighted the transformative power of volunteerism and community engagement. Beyond uplifting the spirits of the children, the activity also enriched the student volunteers by deepening their sense of social responsibility, empathy, and commitment to service. The experience affirmed that resilience is nurtured within communities grounded in love and compassion, where shared stories, teamwork, and faith inspire hope for a brighter future.
