EMERGENCY RESPONSE for One for Marawi City: Repacking Hope for Displaced Families

From August 1 to 14, 2017, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. (SMCII), through the Mother Ignacia Center for Social Responsibility (MICSR) and in collaboration with SMC Alumni, conducted the Repacking of Goods for the Evacuees in Iligan City under the One for Marawi City Program. The activity was held at Inahan sa Kinabuhi Seminary – DPC, Del Carmen, Iligan City, during Academic Year 2017–2018.

The initiative responded to the urgent humanitarian needs of families displaced by the Marawi siege. Volunteers worked tirelessly in repacking essential relief goods to ensure that evacuees received timely, organized, and adequate assistance. More than a logistical task, the activity became a concrete expression of solidarity, compassion, and collective responsibility toward affected communities.

This humanitarian effort reflects SMCII’s core values of faith, excellence, and service, demonstrating how the institution mobilizes its academic community and alumni network in times of crisis. By providing organized relief support, the program helped ease the burden of evacuees and reaffirmed the importance of communal action during emergencies.Through the One for Marawi City Program, St. Michael’s College continues to stand with communities in crisis—offering not only relief goods, but also hope, dignity, and a shared commitment to rebuilding lives together.
