Formalizing Collaboration through the Memorandum of Understanding Signing

In January 2015, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. (SMCII), through the Mother Ignacia Center for Social Responsibility (MICSR), in collaboration with the College of Nursing (CON), Basic Education Department (BED), and College of Commerce (COC), conducted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing at the Integrated School – Del Carmen, Iligan City, during Academic Year 2015–2016.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marked a significant milestone in strengthening institutional partnerships aimed at advancing education, community development, and social responsibility. The agreement formalized the commitment of the participating units to work collaboratively in implementing programs and activities that respond to the needs of partner communities, particularly in the areas of education, health, livelihood, and environmental stewardship.

Through the MOU, SMCII reaffirmed its dedication to building sustainable, values-driven partnerships that extend learning beyond the classroom and into the community. The collaboration provided a structured framework for shared responsibilities, coordinated initiatives, and long-term engagement, ensuring that extension programs are impactful, accountable, and aligned with institutional goals.

This activity reflects SMCII’s mission of faith, excellence, and service, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation among academic units and partner institutions in achieving meaningful social change. By formalizing partnerships, the institution strengthened its capacity to deliver integrated and holistic community programs.Through this Memorandum of Understanding, SMCII laid the foundation for sustained academic–community collaboration, affirming its role as a proactive partner in building empowered communities and promoting sustainable development through education and service.
