Empowering Quality Education: SMCII College of Education Equips Graduates for LET Success through Holistic Saturday Programs

The College of Education of St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. continues to uphold its commitment to producing competent and board-ready educators through its Saturday Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) Review Program, a sustained initiative designed to fully prepare graduating students for the challenges of the licensure examination.

Central to the program is a structured Competency Appraisal covering General Education, Professional Education, and Major/Specialization courses. This assessment allows students to evaluate their mastery of essential competencies, identify learning gaps, and focus their preparation where it is needed most. The appraisal serves as both a diagnostic and developmental tool, ensuring a more personalized and effective review experience.

The program is made possible through the dedication of the College of Education faculty, with Terencia Arnejo and Paula Kristie Pepito playing key roles in facilitating review sessions and mentoring students. Their guidance extends beyond academic instruction, offering encouragement, motivation, and practical strategies to help students build confidence and mental resilience as they prepare for the LET.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), the initiative ensures inclusive access to quality review and professional preparation. By equipping future teachers with strong competencies and licensure readiness, the program also contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), as it supports students’ transition into the teaching profession.

Rooted in the Ignacian Marian core values, particularly service, excellence, and commitment, the Saturday review program reflects a culture where educators willingly go beyond formal duties to support student success. The faculty’s continued presence every Saturday embodies a shared mission of accompaniment—walking alongside students during one of the most important stages of their academic journey. Through this holistic and sustained effort, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. reinforces its role in shaping educators who are not only academically prepared, but also confident, resilient, and values-driven—ready to serve the nation through quality education.
