St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. (SMCII), through the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the U-ROCK (Unified Response through Outreach and Community Knowledge) Program, successfully conducted “Tambayayong sa Kabataan” on December 2, 2025, at the Day Care Center, Barangay Santiago, Iligan City. The activity was spearheaded by PATHFIT 4 (PE4N CAS049) students as part of their community immersion and civic engagement initiative.
The outreach program aimed to create a safe, joyful, and values-centered learning environment for young children through interactive storytelling, wellness activities, team-building games, and catechism. Grounded in the principles of faith, compassion, and volunteerism, the program emphasized resilience, cooperation, and holistic child development—addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Children actively participated in wellness dances, parlor games, and an engaging storytelling session centered on God’s Creation, fostering curiosity, confidence, and moral formation. The program also encouraged children to enjoy learning beyond digital screens, promoting movement, creativity, and meaningful social interaction. Food sharing and gift-giving further symbolized care, generosity, and community solidarity, especially as the celebration coincided with the Christmas season.
The activity strengthened collaboration between students, parents, teachers, and barangay officials, reinforcing shared responsibility in nurturing early learners. For the student volunteers, the immersion served as a transformative experience—enhancing empathy, leadership, teamwork, and social awareness through direct community engagement.Tambayayong sa Kabataan exemplifies SMCII’s commitment to values-driven education and community service, where learning extends beyond the classroom and becomes a lived expression of love, compassion, and social responsibility. The initiative stands as a testament to how small, well-coordinated efforts can create meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children and communities.
