Pupils coming from different public schools in Tag-ibo and Dalipuga, Iligan City were given the opportunity to receive free tutorial services through the SAGIP Tutorials Program of St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. The program was facilitated by student volunteers from the College of Education, who generously shared their time, knowledge, and skills in service of the community.
This initiative was a meaningful privilege for the pupils, as it provided them with additional academic support to strengthen their learning outside regular school hours. At the same time, it served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity for the student volunteers, allowing them to enhance their teaching competence, classroom management skills, and sense of professional responsibility as future educators.
The tutorial sessions covered four core subjects—Mathematics, Science, English, and Christian Living—each handled by assigned student teachers. Classes were conducted every Saturday, ensuring consistency and sustained academic guidance. All lessons and activities were carefully aligned with the K–12 curriculum competencies, guaranteeing relevance, quality, and coherence with the learners’ formal schooling.
Through these weekly sessions, the SAGIP Tutorials Program reinforced the values of faith, excellence, and service, while promoting inclusive education and community partnership. The initiative exemplified how education, when shared freely and purposefully, can uplift learners and shape compassionate, competent teachers committed to nation-building.
