Ang Alamat ng PISO: Small Coins, Big Lessons in Financial Wisdom

The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) of St. Michael’s College, through its Financial Management students, brought learning beyond the classroom through a storytelling outreach titled “Ang Alamat ng PISO.” Conducted on October 8, 2025, at the Day Care Center in Barangay Santiago, Iligan City, the activity formed part of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Coin Recirculation Advocacy, aiming to instill financial values among young learners in a creative and engaging manner.

A total of 26 children participated in the session, eagerly listening as the story highlighted the importance of valuing every coin, no matter how small. Through the tale of a humble piso, the children learned that saving, sharing, and appreciating small contributions can collectively create a positive impact on families and communities.

Beyond promoting financial awareness, the outreach reflected the core values of generosity, stewardship, and social responsibility. The Financial Management students demonstrated how ethical and socially responsive business education can be translated into meaningful community engagement. Ang Alamat ng PISO reminded both learners and facilitators that even the smallest coin—and the simplest act—can inspire hope, responsibility, and lasting change.
