The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) at St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc., recently spearheaded a significant environmental outreach program at Tinago Falls, Barangay Buruun, Iligan City, on September 1, 2025.
This vital initiative was successfully executed through a strong institutional and inter-agency partnership, demonstrating our commitment to civic responsibility and sustainable tourism development.
Collaboration and Commitment
The program was led by Ms. Rogelyn Dato, MBA, Head of the CHTM, and supported by Ms. Maritess Palos, MaEd, Head of the MICSR (Mission Integration and Corporate Social Responsibility), CHTM Faculty, and Staff. Key external collaborators included:
- Iligan City Tourism Office, spearheaded by Ms. Hannah Padilla.
- PNP Station 2, led by PCPT Reagan Y. Adap.
Action for Sustainability
The collaborative effort focused on tangible actions to enhance the safety and preservation of this natural heritage site, including:
- Environmental Cleanup Drive: Removal of waste to protect the natural ecosystem and improve visitor experience.
- Installation of Safety and Awareness Signages: Enhancing visitor safety, promoting environmental awareness, and fostering responsible tourism practices.
This project strongly reflects the Collegeโs commitment to preserving Iliganโs natural treasures and advancing our advocacy for sustainable practices. Through teamwork, service, and shared dedication, we strive to protect and nurture our environment, ensuring its enjoyment and viability for future generations.
