The Young Engineers and Scientists Summit (YESS) 2025 energized Iligan City as it officially opened on November 7, 2025, at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, bringing together a dynamic group of Senior High School STEM learners from various schools across the city. Co-organized by the Meralco Power Academy and Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), the summit showcased the transformative power of innovation driven by purpose, responsibility, and real-world impact.

A highlight of the event was the inspiring keynote message delivered by MSU-IIT Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, who emphasized the importance of purpose-driven scientific advancement—an approach that encourages future innovators to create solutions that uplift communities and care for the environment. Through hands-on sessions, interactive exhibits, and expert-led talks, students were empowered to explore creativity, sharpen critical thinking, and recognize their role in shaping a sustainable future.

Among the enthusiastic participants were the Michaelites from SMCII-BED, who proudly represented the institution in this gathering of young innovators. Their participation allowed them to engage in meaningful conversations about science, technology, and societal progress, reinforcing the idea that innovation is not only about invention—it is about creating impact with intention.

This year’s YESS remains a strong and hopeful step toward preparing the next generation of engineers, scientists, thinkers, and change-makers. These young leaders will one day design solutions that contribute to a greener, safer, and more sustainable world, aligning with global efforts to build communities grounded in knowledge, inclusivity, and collaboration.
