In line with its commitment to peace, solidarity, and community resilience, St. Michael’s College of Iligan, Inc. (SMCII), through the Mother Ignacia Center for Social Responsibility (MICSR) in collaboration with the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA) and the Administration, implemented the Initiative for Peace and Unity in Iligan City on July 7, 2017, during Academic Year 2017–2018. The activity involved the distribution of goods to military and police personnel assigned to various security posts across Iligan City at the height of heightened security operations.
The outreach reached personnel stationed at Camp Pintoy in Suarez, Tipanoy Police Station, PNP Stations 1 (Tambo), 2 (Tubod), and 5 (Poblacion), as well as security checkpoints in NSC, Barangays San Miguel and Hinaplanon. Led by RVM Sisters, school administrators, faculty members, and students from both the Higher Education and Basic Education Departments, the initiative expressed the institution’s gratitude and moral support to frontliners working to ensure public safety and stability during a time of crisis.
Beyond the provision of goods, the activity symbolized solidarity, respect, and shared responsibility between educational institutions and security forces. It fostered mutual understanding and reinforced the value of peace, unity, and service—core principles that guide SMCII’s mission of forming socially responsible citizens and compassionate leaders.
